Mike Blakely selected for All-American Bowl

Manatee High star running back and East County resident Mike Blakely was recently selected for the 2011 U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

Blakely will be honored on Friday night when the U.S. Army All-American Bowl Selection Tour visits Hawkins Stadium and formally presents him with his jersey before the Hurricanes host Booker in their regular-season finale.

Blakely, who verbally committed to Florida last month, was one of 90 players selected for the bowl, which features the best high school football players in the nation.

The U.S. Army All-American Bowl will be held at noon, Jan. 8 in the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
