Lakewood girls win Titusville meet

Lakewood Ranch High School girls varsity cross country team continued its winning ways at the Elite Flrunners.com Race of Champions Oct. 2 in Titusville.

The Lady Mustangs took first with 102 points, followed by Estero (103) and Our Lady of Lourdes (142).
Top runners for Lakewood Ranch High School included Olivia Ortiz, who placed ninth with a new school record in 18:27.05. She broke the previous school record held by Kristin Zarrella in 2009 (18:44).

Zarrella placed 16th with a time of 18:48.39; Devin McDermott 23rd (19:02.23); Natalie Novak 34th (19:09.28). Ashley Platt broke the 20-minute barrier for the first time with 19:34.71. Emily Perez was 95th (20:51.71).
