Ranch Y girls complete triathlon

Eight girls from Lakewood Ranch finished in the top 12 at a youth triathlon at Trinity YMCA Oct. 3.

Elise Skoumal, 5, and Sophia Stock, 6, each completed a race that included a 25-yard swim, a one-mile bike ride and a one-quarter-mile run.

Sydney Cusick and Anna Stock (both 8), Amelia Skoumal, 7, and Chloe Millard, 9, swam 100 yards, biked two miles and ran for one-half mile.

Finally Emma Stock, 11, and Zaya Pelusi, 12, competed in a race that included a 200-yard swim, a four-mile bike ride and a one-mile run.

Sophia Stock, Millard and Pelusi all took second place in their age groups.

Millard also received a special award — a triathlon jersey — for her dedication to the sport this season. She raced in all eight of the YTS Youth Triathlon Series For Livestrong events this season, traveling as far as Tallahassee to compete.
