Doubles teams to battle for club championship

The Meadows Tennis Center will host the 2010 Battle of the Club Champions Oct. 30-31.

The Men’s and Women’s Doubles Champions from nine of the area’s top country clubs will take part in the two-day tournament for bragging rights and the distinction of the area’s best of the best.

This year, the Meadows women’s team of Linda Pelletier and Karen Chapman will look to defend their 2009 title while Serendipity Racket Club’s Wayne Osher and Jeff Davis will try to defend their men’s title.

The first round will begin at 10 a.m., Oct. 30 with teams from Laurel Oak, The Landings, Serendipity Racket Club, The Oaks, Cedar Tennis Club, Jacaranda Country Club, Courtside Tennis Club, River Strand Golf & Country Club and the Meadows Country Club. Round two is scheduled for 1 p.m., Oct. 30 with the finals slated for 10 a.m., Oct. 31.
