Blakely commits to Florida

Manatee High star running back and East County resident Mike Blakely verbally committed to play football for the University of Florida during a press conference this morning.

The 5-foot-9, 195-pound senior, who has seen limited action in recent weeks due to an ankle injury, has rushed for 640 yards and 15 touchdowns so far this season, propelling the Hurricanes to a 7-0 record. 

Blakely received dozens of Division I scholarship offers, but had narrowed down his choices to Florida, Auburn and South Carolina earlier this season.
