Lady Mustangs place second at Mountain Dew Invitational

The Lakewood Ranch High School girls cross country team placed second out of 36 schools competing in the Mountain Dew Invitational Sept. 18 at the University of Florida in Gainesville.

The Lady Mustangs were only 11 points behind winner Estero High School.

Out of 267 runners, Lakewood’s varsity girls led the pack with Olivia Ortiz placing seventh (19:18), Kristin Zarella 10th (19:25), Natalie Novak 16th (19:48), Devin McDermott 18th (19:49), Ashley Platt 34th (20:31) and Emily Perez 103rd (22:28).
