Former Bradenton Marauders pitcher Nathan Adcock, who was selected by the Kansas City Royals with the fifth pick in the 2010 Rule 5 Draft, was named to the Royals’ 2011 Opening Day roster.

Adcock was one of 13 pitchers expected to travel with the team when it opens its regular season today at the Los Angeles Angels. As a Rule 5 Draft selection, Adcock must remain on the team’s Major League roster for the entire season or be offered back to the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Adcock started 26 games for the Marauders in 2010 and led the team in wins (11) and strikeouts (113).

The Marauders will begin their season April 7 at the Charlotte Stone Crabs.
