FC Sarasota U12 boys win President's Cup

The FC Sarasota U12 boys soccer team defeated First Coast Academy 5-2 to win the President’s Cup state championship April 2-3 in Lake Myrtle.

The team outscored its opponents 30-8 over the course of eight games to capture the state title. FC Sarasota defeated FC Spirit in the Region C quarterfinals. The team then beat No. 9 ranked West Pasco Everton 5-1 in the semifinals. Finally, FC Sarasota defeated rival HCU United 2-1 to win the Region C Championship to advance to the state Final Four.

FC Sarasota went on to defeat state power Real Madrid 3-1 to advance to the state final.

State champion players include: John Rivera, Zack McLaughlin, Henry Howell, Tyler Puhalovich, Adi Trifka, Alex Virgillio, Chris Pennewill, Nathan Ellis, Daniel Rocco, Maxwell Yull and Jonathan Fulkert.
