Cops Corner 04.07.11

The following information was gathered from incident and arrest reports obtained from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office. 

LAKEWOOD RANCH 
 March 31 
 1:10 p.m. — 5500 Lakewood Ranch Blvd. (Lakewood Ranch High). Possession of marijuana. The suspect was charged with possession of marijuana after a school administrator found marijuana in his backpack.

LA MIRADA GARDENS
 March 31
 6:15 a.m. — 6100 block of 55th Ave. Circle E. Burglary to an unoccupied residence. Unknown person(s) entered the victim’s residence by forcing the front window off of the track. Once inside, the person(s) took several items and then fled the scene out the front door. There were no fingerprints found at the scene.

GREENBROOK
 March 31
 9:40 a.m. — 13010 Adventure Place (Adventure Park). Found property. The sheriff’s office received a call in reference to checking the area of Adventure Park because a child’s bicycle was found near the wood line. The bicycle was located along with a football. Both were wet from the rain the night prior. The bicycle was run to determine if it had been reported stolen, which it hadn’t. The bicycle and football were collected for safekeeping.

OTHER
 March 30
 1:29 a.m. — 4427 53rd Ave. E. (7-Eleven). Armed robbery. An unknown black male and an unknown white male dressed in black clothing and facemasks entered the business. The white male suspect then ordered the clerk to open up the cash register. The clerk complied. The two suspects took an unknown amount of cash and then fled the scene by unknown means. Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office at 747-3011 or Crime Stoppers at 866-634-8477.

March 31
 9:26 a.m. — The intersection of Tallavast Road and Lockwood Ridge. Baker Act. Several people observed the white female subject walking into moving traffic, yelling, cursing and pointing her finger at motorists. She was belligerent with law enforcement, stating she had an epiphany from God and could do what she wanted. A subsequent investigation led to her being taken into protective custody under a baker act. She was transported to Manatee Glens without incident.

11:47 a.m. — 4710 53rd Ave. E. (Crazy Papa’s BP Gas Station). Trespass warning. The two suspects had been parked in the parking lot for more than 45 minutes after a previous call had been made about them selling drugs in the area. Upon arrival, the two suspects tried to claim a white female stole prescription pills from the front seat of their car while they were talking to another deputy about 30-45 minutes earlier. The first suspect stated he saw the female reaching into the car but didn’t think to alert the deputy who was talking with them at the time. Both incidents and stories didn’t seem to make sense. The suspects were instructed to get letters from their doctors and take them to the front desk should they still wish to file a report. A formal trespass warning was issued to both suspects.

 April 1
 12:59 a.m. — 4427 53rd Ave. E. (7-Eleven). Armed robbery with a deadly weapon. Two unknown black males entered the business through the front door. Both males were wearing black clothing. The first ale had a black shirt tied around his face and the second had a red bandana tied around his face. While inside, the first suspect demanded money from the manager while holding him at gunpoint. After securing about $100, the two suspects exited the store and got into a waiting vehicle driven by a third black male. The vehicle then fled westbound on State Road 70 before heading southbound on 39th Street East.
