Undefeated Lady Pirates win softball tournament

The Braden River High softball team went undefeated to win the Diamondback Division of the 11th Annual Doc4Life Varsity Showdown April 1-3.

The Lady Pirates defeated Satellite 10-0, Vanguard 10-0 and Arch Bishop 3-0 before defeating Dunnellon 4-0 in the championship game.

Pitchers Courtney Mirabella and Hannah Loyer combined for all four shutous, allowing nine hits and one walk while striking out 57.

Kenya Yancy hit a home run, a triple and a double while driving in a run and scoring five runs. Nicole Tira hit a pair of doubles, drove in six runs and scored three runs to lead the way for Braden River at the plate.
