Lady Pirates close out regular season with win

Brianna Maxa hit an in-the-park home run in the eighth inning to propel the Braden River High softball team to a 4-3 victory over Manatee in its final regular season game April 13.

Courtney Mirabella pitched a complete game for the Lady Pirates, allowing two runs on two hits while striking out 10 and walking two.

Jessica Cadorette went 1-for-3 with a home run, a walk, a RBI and a run scored and Maxa went 1-for-4 with a home run, a RBI and a run scored to lead the way for Braden River at the plate.

Mirabella and Melissa Malanczuk both went 1-for-3 with a RBI. Nicole Tira went 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored and Jada Schopfer went 1-for-4 with a run scored.

With the win, the Lady Pirates improve their record to 21-2. Braden River is now ranked sixth in the state and 15th in the nation.
