Mustangs advance to state tournament

Senior Drew Christianson defeated Venice’s Shiv Krishnaswamy in a No. 5 singles match 2-6, 6-2, 7-5 to give the Lakewood Ranch High boys tennis team a 4-1 victory and the Class 3A-Region championship April 14.

With the win, the Mustangs will advance to their second-consecutive state tournament. Last season, Lakewood finished in a three-way tie for second place. The Mustangs will begin their quest for a state title April 18 in Altamonte Springs.

Arsav Mohanty (No. 1), Arnav Mohanty (No. 2) and Robert Strong (No. 3) also won singles matches for the Mustangs.
