Kathleen Flynn Withers, 82, of Longboat Key, died April 16.

Born April 22, 1928, in Braddock, Pa., she was a longtime resident of Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich. In her early years, she volunteered at Detroit General Hospital and the Neighborhood Club Thrift Shop and entered the world of modeling. She married her husband, Jack, and had five children. She enjoyed spending winters on Longboat Key and volunteering at the Women’s Exchange in Sarasota.

Mrs. Withers is remembered for her fierce and loyal devotion to friends and family and as a gracious hostess whose life was filled with laughter and surrounded by flowers. She was known for both her personal style and for the design of her many homes. At the end of her life, her passion for travel was surpassed only by her love of the “always” perfect Longboat Key sunset.

Mrs. Withers was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, and son, John. She is survived by sons Michael, Thomas and Brian; daughter, Julie Greene; and 11 grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., June 11, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Grosse Pointe Farms.
