The unique harmony and style of American country music duo Steel Magnolia filled the auditorium of Braden River High School during a special performance April 20.

Students won the concert after collecting 315 cell phones for the Cell Phones for Soldiers program, which recycles used cell phones to earn soldiers oversees free calling cards.

In partnership with Cox Chevrolet, Braden River’s youth beat out other Tampa Bay General Motors franchises and schools for the special acoustic concert.

“Supporting the soldiers is important because they fight for us every day,” Student Government Association member Christie Childers said. “Even if we didn’t get a prize, it was worth it.”
