Pirates win district opener

The Braden River High baseball team defeated Dixie Hollins 6-2 in the opening round of the Class 4A-District 10 tournament April 26.

Ryan Fischer pitched a complete game for the Pirates, allowing two unearned runs while striking out five.

Dalton Busby went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run in the sixth inning to lead the way for Braden River at the plate. Dakota Wilson also went 2-for-4 and Kelly Machuca and Eric Schappacher both went 2-for-3 with a RBI.

The Pirates will travel to Lakewood Ranch at 7 p.m., tonight to take on the Mustangs in the district semifinals.
