Summer can be a busy time with all the traveling and vacations, but it is important to find time to exercise. Just because you may be leaving town for the week doesn’t mean your entire routine has to change.

If you’re staying at a hotel, most have a fitness center or pool available to guests. In addition, here are a few basic activities you can do to keep your body moving and prevent digression.

Push-ups are a great exercise that can be done anywhere, if you find that too much of a challenge try standing push-ups against a wall or countertop. The more of a challenge you want the further back you stand from the wall or countertop.

To work your lower body you can do a simple wall sit. To do this stand with your back against the wall and walk your feet forward. Once your feet are all the way out, sink your body down towards the floor creating a 90-degree bend in your knees. Make sure your knees are not over your toes and your quadriceps are parallel to the floor.

These two exercises combined with walking or swimming should help to keep you in shape and prevent you from losing momentum. Remember, even if you only are traveling for a short period of time, any time you get out of a routine you are usually going to spend about a week getting back into it.
