Local taekwondo students win awards

Students from the Lakewood Ranch Taekwondo Academy recently attended the Olympic Grand Prix Tournament at Lakewood Ranch High and walked away with numerous accolades.

Logan Mayforth, 7, won second place in green belt forms and sparring and won third place in green belt breaking. Nathanial Garcia, 8, finished second in green belt forms and third in green belt sparring. Matthew Hansen, 9, won first place in green belt forms and third place in green belt sparring. Jacquelyn Bouchard, 9, won first place in green belt sparring. Kaitlyn Marer, 10, won second place in green belt forms and first place in green belt sparring. Alexandra Lopez, 8, finished second in blue belt forms and first in blue belt breaking. Emily Lopez, 12, finished second in blue belt forms and third in blue belt breaking. Courtney Diem, 16, finished first in blue belt sparring and second in blue belt forms. Finally, Matthew Rodgers, 8, finished third in yellow belt sparring.
