7:15 a.m. — 100 block of Ram Way. Suspicious Circumstance. A mother and her daughter reported the theft of a white iPhone. The mother said the phone was taken from her desk when she walked away from it for a brief moment. An application she used to track the phone showed the phone heading northbound on U.S. 41, but the phone was soon shut off, and the service to the phone went dead.
Parked pilfering
2:43 p.m. — 800 block of Ponderosa Road. Burglary. A woman told police someone stole a wallet from her unlocked car while it was parked in front of her home.

Assistance requested
6:15 p.m. — 3500 block of Fruitville Road. Suspicious Circumstance. A drug-store manager called police because an elderly woman had been sitting in his store for a long time. The woman was “having memory problems” and was given a ride home once she remembered her address.
Divine intervention
10:45 p.m. — 800 block of Cocoanut Avenue. Suspicious Person. Police observed a man sleeping on the stoop of a church and sent him on his way.

Traveling in packs
7:30 a.m. — 1400 block of First Street. Trespassing. A bus driver called police because a group of girls was fighting on his bus. Police kicked the girls off the bus at the driver’s request and arrested one of them. They all were issued trespass warnings.

License plate plundered
3 p.m. — 1200 block of Cocoanut Avenue. Theft. A man reported that someone stole his license plate off his Chrysler PT Cruiser.

Answering service
3:44 a.m. — 1400 block of State Street. Illegal Parking. A police officer tried to contact the owner of a car that was parked illegally during the Sarasota Farmers Market. When police got a voicemail, they hung up and called the towing company instead.
Skateboarders scolded
1:29 a.m. — 100 block of South Palm Avenue. Trespassing. Police saw two boys skateboarding in a city garage. The boys fled when they saw the police car. Police caught up with one of them and trespassed him from the garage.
Feeling a little blue
9 a.m. — 800 block of South Osprey Avenue. Suspicious Circumstance. A maintenance man told police that a car must have run into a portion of a metal fence, because there were blue paint chips where a dent was in the fence. Police believe a truck’s side view mirror did the damage.
Fishing for trouble?
2:05 p.m. — 1300 block of John Ringling Parkway. Trespassing. A woman reported that a group of men walked through her yard to find a fishing spot. When she told them they were trespassing, she said they became belligerent. Police couldn’t find the men.
Noise reduction
10:18 p.m. — 1500 block of Main Street. Noise Violation. Police observed loud music and profanity coming from a bar, and the owner agreed to turn the stereo down.
You snooze, you lose
10:24 p.m. — 1700 block of Second Street. Suspicious Circumstance. Police found a man sleeping in the middle of a parking lot.

Currency questioned
1:43 p.m. — 100 block of South Tuttle Avenue. Counterfeit Currency. Police met with a flea-market operator, who explained that one of his vendors had a customer who was trying to pay for things with fake $50 bills. Another vendor accepted one of the bills before realizing it was fake. Police collected the fake bills to be put into evidence.
When one door closes ...
5:44 p.m. — 700 block of John Ringling Causeway. Suspicious Circumstance. A neighbor told police that he saw a man crawl into a window in the vacant apartment next-door. The man told police he had permission from the owner to stay there, and he produced a working key to the front door. He was asked to use the door in the future.

Heavy lifting
6 a.m. — 900 block of Indian Beach Drive. Burglary. A man told police someone broke into a home under construction by kicking in the door and stole a washer, dryer, dishwasher and a range hood.
Shot in the dark?
8:15 a.m. — 3300 block of Central Avenue. Criminal Mischief. A woman told police someone shot her glass door with a BB gun several times. The rear window had several BB holes in it, which caused $200 worth of damage to the door.

3:16 a.m. — 100 block of South Washington Drive. Suspicious Circumstance. A babysitter told police she found drugs in a closet while the parents were on a trip in Europe. Police have a surprise for the parents when they get home.
