County government offices to be closed for holidays

Most Sarasota County government offices and services, including libraries, the History Center and recreation centers, will be closed Friday, Dec. 23, through Monday, Dec. 26, for the Christmas holiday.

Among those facilities that will be open part of that time are the following:

• The Arlington Pool will be open from noon to 5 p.m. Dec. 23, but closed Dec. 24, 25 and 26.

• The Payne Park Tennis Center will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 23, but closed Dec. 24, 25 and 26.

• The Knight Trail Park gun range will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 23, but closed Dec. 24, 25 and 26.

No Sarasota County Area Transit (SCAT) bus service will be provided Dec. 25.

Regular bus service will operate Dec. 24, except for the following exception: For Route 99 (Palmetto), no trips will be offered at 4:15, 5:15, 5:45 or 7:15 p.m. from Lemon Avenue, and no trips will be offered at 3:35 or 4:05 p.m. from Palmetto. The 2:35 p.m. departure will end at DeSoto Station.

Residents who live in unincorporated areas of the county will have their normal trash collection schedule. However, the Bee Ridge and Jackson Road Chemical Collection Centers will be closed Dec. 24-25. The centers will reopen Dec. 28 with their normal operating schedule, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Sarasota County Landfill and Citizen’s Convenience Center at 4000 Knights Trail Road, Nokomis, will be closed Dec. 25.

The landfill administration offices will be closed Dec. 23-26.
