Lady Pirates open season with win

The Braden River High softball team opened its season with a 4-0 victory over DeSoto Feb. 8.

Hannah Loyer and Courtney Mirabella combined for the shutout, striking out 14 and walking six.

Loyer went 2-for-3 with a homerun and Jessica Cadorette went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored to lead the way for Braden River at the plate. Nicole Tira went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored and Ashley Allard went 1-for-4 with a walk and a run scored.

On Feb. 9, Braden River fell to Sarasota 1-0. Mirabell allowed one run on three hits and three errors while striking out six and walking one. Kenya Yancy went 3-for-3 and Brianna Maxa went 2-for-3 with a double to lead the way for the Lady Pirates.
