Does the kayagum sound familiar? Probably not. It’s a fifth-century, 12-string Korean instrument. But the sounds from far away were heard close to home Jan. 8, when musician Sang Won Park, a native of Seoul, South Korea, and a resident of New York City, performed the kayagum at sunset outside of the Ritz-Carlton Beach Club after a lecture by Dr. Helga Wall-Apelt. The photo was captured by photographer Sunaa Hushaw.
