Braden River wins district opener

The Braden River High softball team defeated Seminole Osceola 7-0 in its district opener Feb. 18.

Sophomores Courtney Mirabella and Hannah Loyer combined for the no-hitter with 14 strikeouts.

Kenya Yancy went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, a RBI and a run scored, and Jessica Cadorette went 2-for-3 with a solo homerun, two RBIs and a run scored to lead the way for Braden River at the plate. Elena Lopez went 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and a run scored. Loyer went 1-for-4 with a double, a RBI and a run scored, and Nicole Tira went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.
