It will be at least a year before Eric Carrier is able to return to activities such as driving and working. As Carrier, 25, begins extensive physical, occupational and speech therapy to restore strength, memory and motor skills lost in a dirt bike crash Oct. 16, his family is hosting a benefit to help pay for mounting expenses.

The Eric Carrier TBI Benefit 2011 will take place from noon to 8 p.m. Jan. 8, at the Sarasota Farm Bureau Pavilion, 7289 Palmer Blvd.

The event will feature a raffle and live entertainment and is $10 for adults (children get in free). An online donation account has been set up with Whitney National Bank. To donate, visit www.whitneybank.com or call 877-538-3335.
