Cops Corner 01.13.11

The following information was gathered from incident and arrest reports obtained from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

COOPER CREEK
Jan. 4
 10 a.m. — 8085 Cooper Creek Blvd. (BJ’s Wholesale Club). Petit theft. The complainant reported someone stole her wallet out of her purse, which she left inside her shopping cart while she was shopping at BJ’s Wholesale Club.

CREEKWOOD
Jan. 4
 7:30 p.m. — 4500 block of Creekwood Boulevard. DWLS/R. The defendant was stopped after he was seen leaving an area of property belonging to FPL. A computer check showed the defendant’s license was revoked on Sept. 22, 2006, for a DUI and that he had prior knowledge of this fact. The defendant was taken into custody for DWLS/R with knowledge and was transported to the Manatee County Jail. The defendant’s vehicle was left in the parking lot of the Creekwood Community Pool, 49th Avenue and Creekwood Boulevard, where he came to a stop.

GREENBROOK
Reported Jan. 5
 3 p.m. — 14900 block of Amberjack Terrace. Criminal mischief. Unknown person(s) pried open the patio door of the apartment and broke the lock. It couldn’t be determined if entry was made because the residence is vacant. About $40 in damage was done to the locking mechanism. The responding deputy dusted the scene for prints and recovered two cards of possible latent prints. Those cards were submitted to the print box at D3. The complainant is a neighbor and a board member for the association, who currently has custody of the home. The complainant could not offer any further information or any suspect information.

HERITAGE HARBOUR
Reported Jan. 4
 4:30 p.m. — 6500 block of Anchor Loop. Criminal mischief. Unknown person(s), possibly juveniles living in the complex, broke Styrofoam signs used to mark parking and rules of the complex. The complainant stated this is an ongoing problem, but no one has seen it happen. He stated that over the past year, it has cost the Yacht Club about $900 to replace the signs.

PANTHER RIDGE
Reported Jan. 5
 10:15 a.m. — 6900 block of 215th Street E. Stolen decal. The complainant reported the tag decal was taken off his company car.

OTHER
Jan. 4
 10 a.m. — 2911 53rd Ave. E. (Walmart parking lot). Criminal mischief. Unknown person(s) punctured both passenger side tires of the victim’s vehicle while he was inside working at McDonald’s. The tires were valued at $150, and there were no witnesses to the incident. The manager at Walmart advised he would have the day shift review the parking lot video to see if anyone had been by the vehicle. The victim and Walmart were each issued a victim’s brochure and a case number for future reference.

Jan. 5
 2:40 p.m. — 8320 Lockwood Ridge Road. (Walmart). Trespass warning. The two females entered the store and selected items from the electronic department. The two then observed loss prevention watching them and left the items in the store. They were then trespassed from the property and they stated they understood. The two refused to give their fingerprints and stated they didn’t actually steal anything. The female suspects were escorted off of the property and left in the listed vehicle. Located inside the vehicle in plain view was a clear plastic bag with a green leafy substance. The bag was recovered and placed into property to be destroyed after the substance tested positive for marijuana.
