Cops Corner 01.20.11

The following information was gathered from incident and arrest reports obtained from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

DUETTE
Jan. 11
 5:30 p.m. — 35800 block of State Road 62 E. Burglary to a conveyance. Unknown person(s) attempted to enter a construction storage container by attempting to cut off a security lock using a welding or cutting torch. The person(s) were unsuccessful in their attempt to gain entry. The only thing damaged was a lock security cover.

GREENBROOK
Reported Jan. 11
 6:50 p.m. — 6500 block of Coopers Hawk Court. Information. The complainant reported an acquaintance of hers has a girlfriend who has contacted her several times asking her to stop sending letters to him and to leave them alone. The complainant stated she doesn’t know this person and wants it documented in case it gets worse.

LAKEWOOD RANCH 
Jan. 7
 3 p.m. — 5100 Lakewood Ranch Blvd. Burglary to an unoccupied conveyance unarmed. The complainant reported his son’s wallet had been stolen.

Jan. 12
 6:31 p.m. — 1755 Lakewood Ranch Blvd. (Publix). Theft. The suspect took a pair of sunglasses from the glasses rack and placed them into his pocket. He then walked out of the store, passing all points of sale. The complainant saw the suspect take the glasses and called to him from the Publix exit door. The suspect returned the glasses and told the complainant he was sorry. The complainant stated the store doesn’t wish to prosecute but wanted to issue a trespass warning to the suspect. He told the suspect he was no longer allowed on the premises. The complainant then signed a waiver of prosecution. A case number was issued.

MILL CREEK
Jan. 12
 8 a.m. — 14800 block of 17th Avenue E. Burglary to an unoccupied structure. Unknown person(s) entered the residence through an unlocked side garage door. While inside, the person(s) went through several jewelry boxes in the master bedroom closet. The person(s) then fled in an unknown direction by unknown means. Nothing appears to have been taken.

SARASOTA
Jan. 12
 12:45 p.m. — 8320 Lockwood Ridge Road. Trespass warning. The female suspect was seen on camera, by loss prevention, placing a headband on her head in the accessories area of the store and then walking out of the store without paying for it. The suspect was asked not to return to Walmart, Walmart stores or Sam’s Club stores.

10:04 p.m. — 4600 block of Summer Oak Avenue. Battery. The two subjects got into an argument over their dogs’ barking habits. The argument became physical when they grabbed each other in mutual combat. Neither subject threw any punches, and neither wanted to file charges.

UNIVERSITY PARK
Jan. 10
 7 p.m. — 8085 Cooper Creek Blvd. (BJ’s Wholesale Club). Lost property. The complainant reported that he lost his wallet at the gas station of the BJ’s Wholesale Club.

OTHER
Jan. 7
 12:55 p.m. — 1300 block of 134th St. NE. Obtaining property under $20,000. The victim reported a former employee of the Pathway to Victory Ministries allegedly made a payment to her with a fraudulent check.

Jan. 11
 8:30 a.m. — the intersection of 147th Street East and First Avenue East. Theft. The complainant reported an unknown person took his son’s bicycle, which was unlocked when the son was in school. The complainant didn’t have a serial number for the bicycle.

4 p.m. — 6105 15th St. E. (Boater’s Supply). Grand theft of a boat. Unknown person(s) entered the driveway and pulled away with the boat and trailer in an unknown direction.
