The following information was gathered from incident and arrest reports obtained from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

LAKEWOOD RANCH
Reported June 21

 12:19 p.m. — 6239 Lake Osprey Drive (Lucky Pelican Bistro). 
Petit theft. The complainant reported a former employee stole a check that belonged to his current employee and cashed it.

RIVER’S EDGE
Reported June 27
 3:20 p.m. — 6700 block of 65th Terrace E. 
Suspicious circumstances. The complainant stated she owns the residence but hasn’t lived there since Jan. 23. During a periodic stop at the residence, she noticed items moved around and two holes in a bedroom wall. On June 27, she returned and found more damage, food eaten and liquids thrown on the walls. The bedroom holes also had been repaired. The brush, spackle can and tray all were still in the residence. The bathroom mirror had handprints smeared on it. There were no signs of forced entry. Latent prints were lifted from the bathroom mirror, the brush package and paint tray. The front door has a combination lock known only to the complainant. The complainant said she wonders if her son-in-law, who was recently arrested, is responsible.

SARASOTA
June 27
 6 a.m. — 7100 block of 28th Street E. 
Burglary. Unknown person(s) entered the unlocked rear garage door and removed $600 in property. The victim was going to get a picture of the property and add it to the report within the next couple of days.

11:20 p.m. — 7400 block of 28th Street Court E. Information. An unknown person fired two rounds, from an unknown handgun, into the air. The person then fled south in the suspect vehicle toward Tallevast Road. The complainant stated his brother had some money stolen from him by a man who works with them, and he said he thinks the shooting may have been to scare them, but he is not sure.

June 28
 12:20 a.m. — 8320 Lockwood Ridge Road (Walmart). 
Petit theft. Unknown person(s) removed the victim’s front driver’s side tire and lug nuts and replaced it with a flat spare tire that doesn’t belong to the victim. There weren’t any lug nuts to secure the tire. The victim stated it was caught on film, but they had to wait until the next day to pull it. The responding deputy processed the tire and lifted five latent print cards. The victim was going to call back when the video was ready to be picked up.

SUMMERFIELD
June 27
 7:52 p.m. — 6300 block of Rosefinch Court. 
Robbery by sudden snatching. The victim was robbed of $1,000 cash by sudden snatching. The victim received a telephone call from the suspect, who is a co-worker. The suspect told the victim he had two 54-inch TVs that he would sell to him for $500 each. The victim met the suspect, who asked to see the money. The victim pulled out the money to show him. The suspect snatched the money from the victim’s hands and took off running. The victim got into his vehicle and chased after the suspect vehicle. The victim chased the suspect into Harbour Pointe Apartments before losing sight of the suspect.

OTHER
June 24
 5:30 p.m. — 14900 block of State Road 70 E. 
Criminal mischief felony $1,000 or more. Unknown subject(s) either shot out or knocked out the glass to the door of the tractor, which was parked off the side of the road overnight.

June 27
2:35 p.m. — 2911 53rd Ave. E. (Walmart). Retail petit theft. The juvenile was observed on video putting on a pair of shoes and concealing condoms down the front of his pants. The juvenile attempted to leave the store without paying for the items and was apprehended by loss prevention. The items were returned and the juvenile was arrested. The juvenile was transported to the Juvenile Booking Facility without incident. The total amount of the stolen items was $22.47.
