The following information was gathered from incident and arrest reports obtained from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.
BRADEN RIVER
July 20
9 a.m. — 6400 block of 67th Street E. Information-attempt to locate. The complainant’s 19-year-old daughter recently was diagnosed with depression and acting out of the ordinary. On July 20, she took a vehicle belonging to her mother and hasn’t responded to numerous attempts to contact her via telephone and text messaging. Because of comments left by her daughter on Facebook, the mother said she believes that she may harm herself. The sheriff’s office initiated an attempt to locate the daughter and will evaluate the her mental status if in contact.
HORESHOE COVE
July 19
8 p.m. — 5100 block of Caruso Road. Grand theft of a golf cart. Unknown person(s) stole the victim’s golf cart during the night and fled in an unknown direction. The cart was parked next to the mobile home under the carport.
QUAIL RUN
July 20
12 a.m. — 4200 block of 73rd Terrace E. Burglary to a conveyance. Unknown person(s) forcibly entered the victim’s vehicle by smashing out a window while it was parked in his driveway. Once inside, a backpack was stolen but was later found abandoned across the street in the yard of a neighbor whose vehicle had also been burglarized. The person(s) fled in an unknown direction by unknown means.
SARASOTA
July 20
12:29 p.m. — 5200 block of University Parkway. Retail theft. The defendant selected baby items and a couple of personal items and placed them into her diaper bag. She then walked past all points of sale after paying for one item. She didn’t offer to pay for anything concealed in her bag. The defendant was issued a notice to appear.
OTHER
July 19
8:30 p.m. — 7200 block of Cedar Hollow Circle. Burglary. Unknown person(s) entered the victim’s vehicle, which was parked in his driveway, by breaking the passenger side rear window. The person(s) also tried to cut the convertible soft top.
9 p.m. — 7100 block of Cedar Hollow Circle. Burglary. Unknown person(s) entered the victim’s vehicle through the unlocked doors. Once inside, the person(s) took electronics and sunglasses. Several other similar incidents were reported within the neighborhood.
July 20
3:18 p.m. — 2911 53rd Ave. E. (Walmart). (Possession of marijuana). The defendants made several suspicious credit card transactions at two Walmart locations. The defendants were located and stopped. In their possession was a small amount of marijuana.
7:54 p.m. — 16600 block of Upper Manatee River Road. Burglary to an unoccupied dwelling. An alarm was triggered when unknown person(s) attempted to smash out the rear sliding glass door. No entry was made, but the window damage was estimated to be $300. A perimeter was quickly set up and K9 arrived. A track was attempted to no avail. The neighbors were canvassed, and no one reported seeing anything suspicious.
