Eleven-year-old Ean Eichelbaum hit a double and a triple and scored a pair of runs, helping lead Braden River Little League’s Extra Innings to an 8-0 victory over Buffalo Creek Little League’s Twin Rivers to capture the Minors Division championship of the Manatee County Cup June 4. Here is an inside look at this week’s Athlete of the Week.

How did it feel to win the Manatee County Cup?
It was exciting because it was my first time going to the finals and winning.

How long have you been playing baseball?
I started playing two years ago. I wanted to try all of the different sports.

What do you enjoy the most about baseball?
Getting the hits and just scoring runs.

Who is your favorite baseball player?
Dustin Pedroia. He’s fast just like me, and he doesn’t want to try to get home runs. He just wants to get a hit.

Would you rather be in the field or swinging the bat?
Swinging the bat. I like to see if I can get a home run or just a hit.

Do you have a favorite subject?
Math. It’s more difficult to learn.

If you could go anywhere on summer vacation where would it be and why?
California. A lot of famous people go there, and there are nice beaches.

Do you have a favorite type of movie?
Action. It gets you pumped up.

Do you have any siblings?
I have an older brother, Eric, who is 14 years old.

If you could have one superpower what would it be?
To see into the future. I want to know the future like if I was going to get hit by a car then I would be more careful or if a tornado were coming then I would know.

Do you have a favorite amusement park ride?
Sheikra at Busch Gardens
