11:14 a.m. — 200 block of Sands Point Road
. Found Property. A resort cleaning staff found marijuana and drug paraphernalia in a hotel room. The occupant had already checked out.

May 24
Up in smoke
12:29 a.m. — 100 block of Broadway
. Narcotics Violation. Police found a couple smoking marijuana after hours on the beach. The man was arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Fast money
1:42 a.m. — 600 block of Norton Street
. Public Service. A taxi cab driver told police a woman he dropped off would not pay him. When her boyfriend came out and saw the cab driver on the phone with police, he quickly paid the driver.

Catch my drift?
7:21 a.m. — Linley Street Boat Ramp
. Unsecured Boat. A 30-foot sailboat was drifting in Sarasota Bay. It was secured about 50 feet offshore. Nearby residents said it has been an ongoing issue with the owner of the boat.

Don’t mess with Mother Nature
1:40 a.m. — 3400 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive (GMD)
. Code Enforcement. Police saw beach chairs and a tent on an area of beach where sea turtles were nesting. A warning was delivered to two separate resort management offices to alert them of the violations.

Break’s over
9:56 a.m. — 1900 block of Harbour Links Circle
. Suspicious Person. A woman reported two suspicious males who refused to leave after being told they couldn’t fish in a nearby pond. Police warned the workers, who went back to work repairing a nearby roof.

Quite the haul
4:46 p.m. — 3800 block of GMD
. Traffic Violation. Police pulled over a truck driver because his trailer wasn’t covered and leaves were blowing all over the road. The driver was issued citations for not having a covered trailer and not having the proper license for hauling the trailer.

Sneak peek
11:52 p.m. — Broadway Beach Access
. Code Enforcement. Police warned a couple they were on the beach after hours. They told police they had just arrived for a vacation and wanted to take a quick glance at the beach.

Trailer violations
9:53 a.m. — 1200 block of GMD
. Traffic Violation. Police pulled over a man for not having his trailer registered. He was issued tickets for driving an unregistered trailer and for failing to hook up the trailer’s brake lights.

It takes two to tangle
4:24 p.m. — Off the Key
. Boat. Police found two boats tangled up together after some strong currents blew the vessels into each other. Both boat owners exchanged insurance information.

Under the influence
5:36 p.m. — 1600 block of GMD
. Driving Under the Influence. A man was pulled over for swerving all over the road and issued citations for not having a valid driver’s license and driving under the influence. The man also threw up on himself upon exiting the vehicle.

Reckless driving reported
9:41 p.m. — Intersection of GMD and Bay Isles Road
. Reckless Driving. A man driving recklessly in a white Jeep could not be located.

Permission revoked
11:19 p.m. — 600 block of Lands End Drive
. Trespassing. Police told two men that the new owner of the house did not want to continue to give them permission to park near his house and fish near his dock.

Swept up
7:11 a.m. — 6400 block of GMD
. Unsecured Boat. The high tide beached a boat onto the shore, but the owner was able to remove his boat.

Returned gift
10:42 a.m. — 5400 block of GMD
. Found Property. A man turned in a bookstore gift card he found in a bank parking lot. The owner of the card was located.

Store secured
10:07 p.m. — 4000 block of GMD
. Security Check. Police secured the front door of a local hardware store.

Permanent park job
1:19 a.m. — 100 block of GMD
. Overlook Park. A tow truck was called to remove a vehicle that had been parked for days in Overlook Park.

Smell of smoke
4:25 a.m. — 4300 block of GMD
. Public Service. Police detected a strong odor of smoke in the area, but no fires were reported.

Day off?
4:25 p.m. — 5300 block of GMD
. Suspicious Circumstance. A dry cleaner store was open, but no employees could be located on the premises. The owner was called and responded to the situation.

9:24 a.m. — Strange sounds coming from storm drain on Bay Isles Road. Found to be frogs making frog noises.

Accidental arsonist
7:05 p.m. 500 block of Ketch Lane
. Arson. A 22-year-old subject lit paper and baseball cards on fire in his garage next to a vehicle but could not explain to police why.
