The Sarasota Ballet is adding urban styles and hip-hop to its graceful ballet moves.

The ballet recently announced the Sarasota Ballet School will be providing the ballet curriculum and instruction for The Studio Dance Company, one of the largest dance studios in the Clearwater/Tampa Bay area.

The Studio Dance Company has a heavy enrollment in young dancers seeking training in a variety of dance styles and exceptional instruction in hip-hop, urban styles, jazz, lyrical and modern, the company recognized it needed to include a ballet component at an equally high standard.

The Sarasota Ballet School instructors will teach classes and guide the program. In addition to weekly classes, they will be providing periodic master classes, sending teachers Pavel Fomin, Octavio Martin, Yaima Franco, Kate Honea and Dex Honea, among others.

The Studio Dance Company will assist The Sarasota Ballet School in augmenting its urban styles training with top notch hip-hop teachers and dancers providing periodic master classes and workshops in Sarasota.

Both schools will collaborate on outreach programs to build a greater interest in dance and dance training among youth in the Tampa Bay, Sarasota and Manatee communities.
