Not so neighborly
12:06 p.m. — 700 block of John Ringling Causeway. Dispute. A man who is trying to sell his condo placed a for-sale sign outside of the condo building. One of his neighbors didn’t like the sign there, so she picked it up and threw it in the trash. She said the sign was attracting people who wanted to look at the condo, and she didn’t want them parking there.

June 14
Chain gang
8:42 a.m. — 2500 block of Clematis Street. Burglary. A woman said her home was burglarized while she was away for a few hours. Police believe she left a rear door ajar, which appears to be where the thief entered the house, because there were no signs of a break-in. The only items taken in the house were three gold chains, worth $2,500, sitting in a soap dish in the master bathroom. The woman believes the thief also rummaged through her dresser drawers, because the clothes appeared to have been moved.

Weighty decision
1:28 p.m. — 1 block of Marina Plaza. General Suspicion. Complainant said a man docked his boat and walked away and left his boat to go adrift. Police contacted the boat owner, who said his company was testing the boat’s automatic anchor. The boat was not anchored but only drifted about 10 feet away. Time for more tests.

What’s your sign?
3:34 p.m. — South Tamiami Trail and Waldemere Street. Reckless Driving. A man was reportedly driving erratically. He hit the median and briefly drove on it. The complainant was a nearby sign spinner for a business.

Southern un-comfort
7:35 p.m. — Main Street. Suspicious Person. A transient was seen waving a Confederate flag. Complainant said it’s an ongoing problem.

Generating leads
11:15 p.m. — 2500 block of Clematis Street. Theft. Complainant reported his generator as stolen and said he knows who’s to blame. The $500 generator was pawned. The incident happened in April, but the victim did not report it until now, because he wanted to give the thief a break. Break is over.

June 15
No more sleepovers
9 a.m. — 300 block of South Pineapple Avenue. Patrol Request. The manager of a property at the above address asked police for an extra patrol. Some of his tenants have seen several transients sleeping in the entryway of the parking garage.

What’s up, dock?
1 p.m. — 100 block of Casey Key Road. Boat Burglary. The victim is an out-of-state visitor, who arrived by boat. He was staying at a Casey Key motel and had his 18-foot boat docked behind the property. The man said he thought he had taken everything from the boat into his motel room but apparently forgot a bag that contained $400 cash, his driver’s license, credit card and sunglasses. The motel manager said there have been numerous thefts in the past few months and requested increased deputy patrols.
