Children participating in the Acting Up Performing Arts Summer Camp at Lakewood Ranch High School brought Disney’s “Alice in Wonderland Jr.” to life this week.

The East County Observer caught up with participants to hear about their experience.

Sierra Amato
What character do you play?
“I am Rose, the flower.”

What’s your favorite part about your character?
“Getting to play a sassy role and getting to be all up in Alice’s face. I don’t really mean it. I’m not normally that sassy.”


Olivia LaFemina
What character do you play?
“I play a Cheshire cat.”

What’s your favorite part about the play?
“I like how we get to wear really cool costumes.”

Who is your favorite character?
“I like Alice’s part — the regular Alice.”


Brooke dePasquale
What part do you play?
“I’m part of the caterpillar.”

What part of your character do you like most?
It’s really fun doing jazz hands and stuff.”

What’s your favorite part of the play?
“When we get to dance and slide down the slide.”

Who do you play?
“Alice.”

What do you like about your character?
“I usually play sassy characters, but Alice isn’t. I like how I’m not part of Wonderland.”

Have you read the book “Alice in Wonderland?”
“No, but I’ve seen the movie.

What’s your favorite line?
“Curiouser or curiouser.”


Danny Shevlin
What character do you play?
“The white rabbit.”

What makes a good white rabbit?
“Being chaotic and controlled.”

What’s your favorite part of the play?
“I like when the audience sees us as normal kids and then we transform into characters.”

How does the book compare to this play?
“It’s similar, but there’s a lot of new twists from the movies that are added.”
