Second-grade students at Braden River Elementary School shared what they learned about citizenship, U.S. history and the democratic process during their Hall of Democracy event this week.

The East County Observer caught up with several students who researched U.S. presidents as part of the project to find out what they’d learned.

Anna Babayan
What was your favorite thing you learned?
My president, James Madison. He worked closely with George Washington with the Republican Party.

How did you pick your president?
My teacher picked the presidents.


Samantha Pondillo
What did you learn?
Dwight D. Eisenhower is a Republican.

What does it mean to be a Republican?
There’s like three different things, and it’s about the votes.

Which president did you research?
William McKinley

Where did you conduct your research?
On the computer and a few books.


Kolby Wade
Which president did you research?
President Obama

What was the most interesting thing you learned about him?
His middle name was Hussein.
