A film about red-tide research at Mote Marine Laboratory was selected by a panel of judges to appear in the “Beneath the Waves” film festival, which will be from March 16-20 in Mobile, Ala.
The 15-minute film, “Red Tide Research in Paradise” was written, shot, produced and directed by Julie Hollenback, a recent graduate of the University of Miami Rosentiel School of Marine & Atmospheric Science. It documents an annual Mote study that investigates how airborne toxins from Florida red tide affect coastal residents and follows Sarasota resident Julie Odenweller as she volunteers for the annual study.
