5:29 p.m. — 700 block of Marbury Lane. Disturbance. Police responded to a complaint of someone causing a lot of noise. Police found a maintenance worker using a pressure washer before 8 a.m. and informed him of the town’s noise ordinance.
March 10
Wallet whereabouts
2:32 p.m. — 4100 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive (GMD). Lost Property. A man told police he lost his black leather wallet, which contained $200 in cash, his driver’s license, Social Security card and credit cards.
March 12
Knock, knock ...
5:05 a.m. — 500 block of Russell Street. Suspicious Circumstance. A woman told police she thought she heard someone knock on her door, but there was no one there.
Out of sight
7:45 a.m. — Intersection of GMD and Juan Anasco Drive. Parking Violation. Police observed a car parked in the right of way, in an area where homeowners complained about cars blocking their line of sight. The construction worker agreed to move his truck.
Access denied
8:02 a.m. — 6900 block of GMD. Suspicious Circumstance. Police observed damage to a vacant home. It appeared a garage door was kicked in an attempt to gain access. The homeowner was advised of the damage.
Questionable placement
8:37 a.m. — 600 block of Buttonwood Drive. Code Enforcement. A man told police that his neighbor placed a no-trespassing sign by the street in the town’s right of way. The man has violated the town sign code in the past, and the latest complaint was forwarded to the Code Enforcement Department.
Feeling trapped
11:46 a.m. — Off the Key. Lost Property. A Longboat Key boater flagged down a police officer and informed him that someone intentionally cut a buoy off one of his crab traps, and now the trap is missing. The value of the missing trap is $38.
March 13
Out and about
3:58 p.m. — 6700 block of GMD. Welfare Check. Police responded to a request for a welfare check and found a woman’s house locked and secure. Neighbors said she left on her own accord.
Cut your losses
6:07 p.m. — 5000 block of GMD. Larceny. A couple reported that their bicycles were stolen. A bolt cutter was used to steal the bikes, which were valued at $1,200.
March 14
That’s rubbish
2:30 p.m. — 500 block of Birdie Lane. Lost Property. A woman reported that she is missing her garbage can.
Neighborhood name calling
4:18 p.m. — 100 block of Winslow Place. Disturbance. A man reported that one of his neighbors rode by on his boat while calling him “a Nazi” and making obscene gestures with his hands. The man said it stems from an ongoing homeowners association dispute. The neighbor denied calling him a Nazi and explained that he was calling him “nutsy,” which is the term the man has been using to describe neighbors who refuse to join the homeowners association.
March 15
Drifting away
8:01 a.m. — Intersection of GMD and Bay Isles Parkway. Traffic Violation. A woman told police the car in front of her kept drifting into the Gulf of Mexico Drive bicycle lane. Police pulled the driver over and discovered he did not have a valid driver’s license.
That blows
12:10 p.m. — 600 block of Emerald Harbor Drive. Disturbance. Neighbors told police they have an ongoing problem with two landscapers who routinely blow wood chips in front of their house. One of the landscapers also called one of the neighbors “a b****.”
Police made plans to alert the out-of-town homeowner of the issues.
Stolen part
1:42 p.m. — 6500 block of Bayou Hammock Road. Boat Larceny. A woman reported that someone stole the propeller off her pontoon boat. The propeller is valued at $600.
March 16
You can count on us
12:40 a.m. — 5300 block of GMD. Disturbance. A cab driver called police because a couple could only come up with $15 for a $27 fare. Upon arrival, the couple dumped a cup full of change out onto the trunk of the cab, and police helped count out the remaining money due to the cab driver.
Night lights
2:03 p.m. — 600 block of Marbury Lane. Code Enforcement. A woman complained that her neighbor shines lights all night long.
Sparks fly
10:57 p.m. — 3400 block of GMD. Fire Brush. A small brush fire started when someone dumped charcoal into the woods.
Mailbox malady
6:35 p.m. — 700 block of Old Compass Road. Property Damage. A man reported that his mailbox was damaged, most likely from a car backing into it.
Verbal warning
2:22 a.m. — 100 block of Broadway. Suspicious Circumstance. A couple was issued a verbal warning for being at the beach after hours.
Gone fishing
2:45 a.m. — 100 block of GMD. Trespassing. Two men were warned they couldn’t fish in Overlook Park after the park closes.

Shopping snafu
2:43 p.m. — 2700 block of GMD. Lost Property. A man told police he lost his wallet during a trip to Avenue of the Flowers.
