The following information was gathered from incident and arrest reports obtained from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.
SUMMERFIELD
Reported March 22
2:32 p.m. — 6500 block of Meandering Way. Larceny petit theft, first offense. The complainant flagged down the responding deputy while he was conducting a directed patrol in the neighborhood. The complainant stated someone had stolen some parts from her gas grill. She said the grill and the burner covers were stolen. The grill had been outside of the house on the walkway by the front door. She stated she didn’t know who had taken the items and didn’t reported it on March 20 when it occurred because they were away using the grill all day at a function after the stolen items had been replaced. There wasn’t anything that could be issued at the scene. The victim was given a case card.

March 22
4:15 p.m. — 6100 block of Verna Bethany Road. Found property (tag). An anonymous person gave the reporting deputy a license plate that had been found. The license plate was placed into property pending owner notification.
OTHER
March 22
12:48 p.m. — 8320 Lockwood Ridge Road (Walmart). Larceny petit theft, first offense. The female suspect entered the store and selected several cosmetic items. She concealed the cosmetics in a plastic Target bag she brought with her. The suspect left the store without paying for the concealed items and was stopped by loss prevention.
March 23
7 a.m. — 6700 block of 45th Terrace. Unarmed burglary to an unoccupied conveyance. Unknown person(s) entered the victim’s unlocked van and stole her purse and its contents.
12:56 p.m. — 6250 State Road 70 E. (BB&T Bank). Trespass warning. The suspect was causing a disturbance in the bank. The complainant issued the suspect a trespass warning. The suspect was told that if he didn’t leave or if he returned, he would be arrested. The suspect left the bank.
Reported March 23
9:54 a.m. — 700 block of 60th Street Court E. Information. The complainant reported he had lost a $9,050 check made out to a client after he placed it on his desk. He has since replaced the check and mailed it. This check showed up cashed in his account but wasn’t endorsed by anyone. He made a report at the bank, which will replace the funds pending an investigation. The bank will be following up with its own investigation of the matter. The complainant stated he believes the suspect is the only person who may have had access to the check when it was lying on his desk.
2:20 p.m. — 22100 block of 61st Avenue E. Exploitation of the elderly. A call was received from the abuse hotline stating the suspect told his grandparents he has a medical issue for them to write checks to him. It is alleged that the suspect has received $25,000 in checks for the last two months. CID was notified and will be investigating the incident further.
March 24
12:52 a.m. — 7640 Lockwood Ridge Road (Wings N Things). Burglary. An unknown white male entered the business by breaking the glass door. The suspect entered the bar area and took a cash drawer and a video game. The suspect then fled through the front door. The incident was captured on the business surveillance.
