4:14 p.m. — Intersection of Longboat Drive North and Fox Street. Soliciting. A man who was selling meat from his truck door-to-door was arrested for multiple active suspensions.

Accident report
4:58 p.m. — 700 block of Broadway. Property Damage. A woman reported that someone rear-ended her car while she was stopped at a stop sign on St. Armands Circle. She was advised to file a report with the Sarasota Police Department and was also advised not to leave the scene of an accident in the future.

Shot in the dark
7:28 a.m. — 5100 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive (GMD). Suspicious Circumstance. A man thought he heard the sound of gunshots coming from north of his home. A neighbor also confirmed the gunfire. Police found nothing to confirm the reports.

Sandy paws
11:36 a.m. — 100 block of North Shore Road. Code Enforcement. A woman was told she couldn’t walk her small, white pit-bull-mix puppy on the beach — no matter how much the puppy was enjoying it.
Domestic violence
6:02 p.m. — 4400 block of GMD. Domestic Violence. A man called police to report a disturbance in the car in front of him. Police located the car and discovered the female passenger had a bloody nose; four children were sitting in the backseat of the car. She explained that when she threw the driver’s cellphone out the window, he hit her in the nose with his elbow. He was placed under arrest for domestic battery.

Teenage angst
12:26 a.m. — 4200 block of GMD. Noise Disturbance. Police advised a group of 10 teenagers staying at a local resort that they were being too loud. They agreed to go inside, but police received another call about the same group. Police told them they were in danger of being evicted if another complaint was made.
No parking after hours
4:30 a.m. — 100 block of GMD. Code Enforcement. Police found a man sleeping in the back of his car, which was parked in Overlook Park. He was sent on his way with a warning.
Oh, the irony
1:22 p.m. — Beer Can Island. Code Enforcement. Police witnessed several people drinking from beer cans on Beer Can Island. They were told they couldn’t consume beer on the island, despite its name.
Barking mad
1:30 p.m. — 500 block of Companion Way. Animal Nuisance. Police received an anonymous complaint about a dog barking. The dog owner apologized for the nuisance and explained that the anti-bark collar the dog wears while she is gone was malfunctioning. The citronella collar was refilled with citronella to stop the barking.
Poop deck patrol
4:38 p.m. — 1000 block of Longboat Club Road. Vandalism. A woman reported that someone put feces in the condominium swimming pool. She reported that one of the owners asked several juveniles to stay out of the pool days prior, which might have prompted the incident. The association planned to combat the issue with extra patrol after dark.
Party all-night long
5:28 p.m. — 400 block of North Shore Road. Noise Disturbance. A north-end Key resident complained of unusual loud music coming from a boat moored on Beer Can Island. Police asked the boater to turn to music down, and he agreed.
Bad day
9:42 p.m. — 100 block of GMD. Traffic Violation. A woman was asked to leave the Chart House restaurant after causing a disturbance; she had not taken her bipolar medication. She was later pulled over and issued citations for driving with a suspended driver’s license and driving a car with an expired tag. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

No parking
9:45 a.m. — 3400 block of GMD. Parking Violation. Employees of a resort parked on a vacant lot, unknowingly violating a town ordinance. The vehicles were promptly moved.

Dog dip
3:22 p.m. — 100 block of Broadway. Code Enforcement. Police located a man and a black dog coming back from the beach and informed the dog’s owner that dogs aren’t allowed to enjoy the beach.

Assault with a deadly wea-pen?
March 17, 2000 — 11:56 a.m. 4000 block GMD. Assault. An irate customer threw an ink pen at a rental agent. The customer grabbed her arm and cussed at her. The customer was upset because the agent wouldn’t give her a list of addresses of available properties. Police are searching for the attacker.
That’s a sobering thought
March 22, 2003 — 12:30 a.m. New Pass Bridge. DUI. Police arrested a 74-year-old man for driving while intoxicated after he failed roadside sobriety tests. He told police he couldn’t pass the tests even if he were sober. He likened the officer to a communist.
Let's get physical
March 26, 1980 - 9:24 a.m. Officer reported a physical clash between two men aged 75 and 76. Altercation brought to a halt by shortness of breath on both parts. Only minor injuries sustained. 4300 block GMD.
