Brittany Kilduff has been striking out opponents since she was 9 years old.

And the Lakewood Ranch senior doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon.

On March 21, Kilduff signed a national letter-of-intent to play softball for Tennessee Weslyan College.

“It feels good,” Kilduff said. “The pressure is off. It just feels good knowing where I’m going and not having to worry about it so much.”

Kilduff, who plans to major in psychology, chose Tennessee Weslyan over Bryan College and South Florida Community College, among others.

“It’s a small school in terms of class size, and obviously, there’s the religious Christian part to it, which really kicked in for me,” Kilduff said.

Kilduff began playing softball when she was 8 years old after she was told she was too old to keep playing baseball. After predominantly playing shortstop and first base, Kilduff decided to try pitching a year later.

“It looked fun, and it was the only position I hadn’t played yet,” Kilduff said.

Kilduff will spend the rest of the spring pitching for Lakewood before preparing to head to Tennessee Weslyan where she plans to pitch for the Bulldogs varsity team as a freshman.

“I was told I would be on varsity, but anything can happen,” Kilduff said.
