OTHER
April 28
 Noon
— 11100 block of Upper Manatee River Road Animal neglect (information). The deputy met with the owner of a horse named Sam. The food, water and shelter provided were photographed and information was obtained regarding the horse’s age and medical condition. The horse is 34 years old and has a hip disorder due to a break a number of years ago. The horse is under veterinarian care at Sarasota Equine. The owner will provide documents from the vet’s office next week. The deputy gave the horse a score of a low three in the Henesse Body Chart. Given the horse’s age, it does look good, but with the hip problems it would give unknown person(s) the illusion of a neglected horse. No further investigations are needed, and the deputy will wait until receiving documents to close the case, he said.
