+ LBK trolley schedules forced visitors into cars
Dear Editor:

I am an annual visitor who has taken the Longboat trolley from time to time but am very disappointed in the signage. In spite of the apparent wish to make the bus user-friendly and the new brochure, which I finally found, the posted timetables at the bus stops are out-of-date and wrong.

At the Longboat Key Hilton Beachfront Resort, where a large family and mine were ready to ditch the car and take the trolley to St. Armands (on Earth Day to boot), we found two timetables (one from 2009; across the street there is one from 2008), as well as another stating that there are buses every half-hour, listing the times as, for example: 6:19 p.m. and 6:49 p.m. Needless to say, we had all missed the bus, because the new brochure states there is only one inbound bus per hour on the “14s”; so we missed the 6:14 p.m. bus and there wasn’t another till 7:14 p.m. We got in the car and actually saw the other family get out of their car later on the Circle. Shame!

I’m tempted to take my lovely brochure and tape it to the pole by the Hilton to set things straight.
