CLASSROOM SPOTLIGHT: Haile Middle School

Students at Haile Middle School this weekend performed “The Wizard of Oz” for audiences. The East County Observer caught up with performers about their experience.

What is your favorite part of the play?
My favorite part is just being able to perform in front of people. I’ve been performing in front of people since I was 2 with dance, but this is my first actual play.

What makes a good witch character?
The evil laugh. You’ve got to have the perfect laugh.

What part do you play?
I’m an apple tree.

What do you like best about the play?
Everybody’s so happy and so excited about performing.

What is your favorite part of the story?
It’s so creative. I like there’s another world.

How does the play compare to it?
It’s based on the same lines, but there are some differences. I like the movie and the acts a lot better.
