Sleepy Lagoon home sells for $4.8 million

A Gulf-front home at 6477 Gulfside Road sold Wednesday, May 4, for $4.8 million, the highest amount paid for a Manatee County home on Longboat Key since March 2009.

According to the warranty deed, James Tipping and Jaroslaw Pekaruk, of Hamilton, Bermuda, purchased the home from Brian Withers and Thomas Withers, individually and as successor co-trustees of the Revocable Living Trust of Kathleen Withers, of Warren, Mich.

Barbara Ackerman, of Coldwell Banker’s Longboat Key office, listed the property. Reid Murphy, of Developers Realty Corp., represented the buyer.

The 5,982-square-foot home was built in 2002 and has six bedrooms, five-and-a-half bathrooms and a swimming pool.

The sale topped the 29 transactions that occurred on Longboat, Lido, St. Armands and Bird keys during the week of May 2 through May 6, which had more sales activity than any other week year-to-date. Sales broke down as follows: 21 on Longboat Key, four on Lido Key, three on Bird Key and one on St. Armands Key. Of the week’s sales, 10 exceeded $1 million.

L’Ambiance
John and Christine Currie, 1345 Westway Drive, sold Unit M-208 at 435 L’Ambiance Drive at the 145-unit L’Ambiance to Charles Jones for $2,475,000. Built in 1994, the 3,220-square-foot unit has three bedrooms, three bathrooms and two half-baths. It last sold for $3 million in May 2004.

Water Club
Edward and Charis Rosenblum sold Unit 602 at the Water Club, 1241 Gulf of Mexico Drive, to Jeffrey and Jean Hamilton for $2.4 million. Built in 1996, the 3,400-square-foot unit has three bedrooms and five bathrooms. It last sold for $1.34 million in May 1999.

Queens Harbour
Murray and Anne Lowenthal, of Sarasota, sold their home at 3570 Fair Oaks Lane in the 102-home Queens Harbour to Gerald and Deborah Hamburg for $1,135,000. Built in 1991, the 2,824-square-foot home has four bedrooms, three bathrooms and a swimming pool. It last sold for $1.6 million in February 2004.
Also in Queens Harbour, Evelyn Lieberman, of Haverford, Pa., sold her home at 3557 Fair Oaks Lane to Richard and Eleanor McGrath for $1,001,500. Built in 1994, the 2,964-square-foot home has three bedrooms, three-and-a-half bathrooms and a swimming pool. It last sold for $530,000 in March 1996.

Country Club Shores
Gresta Properties LLC, a Florida limited-liability company with an Ontario address, sold the home at 580 Putter Lane in Country Club Shores Unit V to Paula Norwood for $1.1 million. Built in 2003, the 2,730-square-foot home has three bedrooms, three-and-a-half bathrooms and a swimming pool. It last sold for $850,000 in December 2002.

Robert and Barbara Maier, 550 Bowsprit Lane, sold their home at 581 Bowsprit Lane in Country Club Shores Unit IV to Judith Dillon-Farley, of New Buffalo, Mich., for $560,000. Built in 1966, the 1,855-square-foot home has three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a swimming pool. It last sold for $260,000 in August 1987.

Tangerine Bay Club
William Noonan and Bonnie McIntyre sold Unit 521 at 380 Gulf of Mexico Drive in the 90-unit Tangerine Bay Club to Charles and Alice Wilkinson, of Baltimore, for $975,000. Built in 1994, the 2,310-square-foot unit has three bedrooms and three bathrooms. It last sold for $999,000 in December 2004.

Pierre
Edgar and Cathleen Gerwig, of New London, N.H., sold Unit 403 at the 66-unit Pierre, 455 Longboat Club Road, to Anatoly and Ida Fridland, of Brookline, Mass., for $890,000. Built in 1990, the 2,470-square-foot unit has three bedrooms and three bathrooms. It last sold for $750,000 in May 2000.

Beachplace
Bernard and Pauline Michaels, of Pittsburgh, sold Unit 603 at 1125 Gulf of Mexico Drive in the 336-unit Beachplace to Janice Marshall, of Troy, Mich., for $625,000. Built in 1979, the 1,503-square-foot unit has two bedrooms and two bathrooms. It sold new for $125,000 in December 1979.

Also at Beachplace, Jon and Roseann Zumbrink, of East Lansing, Mich., sold Unit 605 at 1065 Gulf of Mexico Drive, to Jonathan and Diane Wilson, of Toronto, for $475,000. Built in 1981, the 1,392-square-foot unit has two bedrooms and two bathrooms. It last sold for $530,000 in June 2002.

Sunset Beach on Longboat Key
Jack and Susan Jefferson, of Lakeland, sold Unit 3103 at the 65-unit Sunset Beach on Longboat Key, to Jack and Ann Weiss, of Pittsburgh, for $600,000. Built in 1984, the 1,463-square-foot unit has two bedrooms and two bathrooms. It last sold for $670,000 in July 2002.

Promenade
Northern Trust NA, trustee of the Dorothy Hirsh Trust, of Sarasota, sold Unit 407 at the 120-unit Promenade, 1211 Gulf of Mexico Drive, to Dawn Horth, of Zionsville, Ind., for $500,000. Built in 1985, the 1,827-square-foot unit has two bedrooms and two bathrooms. It last sold for $340,000 in February 1986.

Also at Promenade, Ralph and Margaret D’Angelo, of Mountainside, N.J., sold Unit 106 to Mai Chen Welland, of St. Louis, for $450,000. Built in 1985, the 1,598-square-foot unit two bedrooms and two bathrooms. It last sold for $210,000 in November 1985.

Players Club
M. Scott Welch, of Elkhart, Ind., sold Unit 205 at the Players Club III, 1445 Gulf of Mexico Drive, to Herbert Spaeth, of Villa Hills, Ky., for $475,000. Built in 1982, the 1,957-square-foot unit has two bedrooms and three bathrooms. It last sold for $345,000 in March 1998.

Aquarius Club
Aquaries Investments LTD, an Ontario corporation, sold Unit 3-D at the 59-unit Aquarius Club, 1701 Gulf of Mexico Drive, to Denise Grimes for $380,000. Built in 1975, the 1,551-square-foot unit has two bedrooms and two bathrooms. It last sold for $150,000 in June 1986.

Seaplace
James and Gretchen Wasniewski, of Willowbrook, Ill., sold Unit G5-303 at 1965 Gulf of Mexico Drive in the 461-unit Seaplace to Gerald and Lorraine Lutgen, of St. Paul, Minn., for $335,000. Built in 1977, the 933-square-foot unit has one bedroom and two bathrooms. It last sold for $140,000 in June 1989.

Longboat Harbour
Marcia Kurzberg sold Unit K101 at 4410 Exeter Drive in the 300-unit Longboat Harbour to Alvin and Barbara Balaban, of Somers, N.Y., for $285,000. Built in 1969, the 1,168-square-foot unit has two bedrooms and two bathrooms. It last sold for $125,000 in August 1990.

Spanish Main Yacht Club
Henning Frederiksen, of Barnstable, Mass., sold Unit 205 at 759 S. Spanish Drive in the 212-unit Spanish Main Yacht Club to Charles and Barbara Milano, of Staten Island, N.Y., for $257,500. Built in 1969, the 1,393-square-foot unit has two bedrooms and two bathrooms. It last sold for $87,125 in December 1979.

The Colony Beach & Tennis Resort
Marion Goldstein, of Snyder, N.Y., sold Unit 305 at the Colony Beach & Tennis Resort, 1620 Gulf of Mexico Drive, to Elaine Grimm, of Troy, N.Y., for $110,000. The 1,014-square-foot unit was built in 1973. It last sold for $190,000 in June 2007.

Boathouse on Longboat
Barry and Carol Lewis, of Sarasota, sold Boat Slip 2203 at the 194-slip Boathouse on Longboat, 408 Gulf of Mexico Drive. The slip sold for $18,800 in August 2002.

Lido Key
Michael Wright, 675 Longboat Club Road, sold Unit 902 at the Beach Residences, 1300 Benjamin Franklin Drive, to Robert and Maureen Ruscher, of Raleigh, N.C., for $2,873,900. Built in 2005, the 3,964-square-foot unit has three bedrooms and three bathrooms. It last sold for $2.84 million in December 2005.

Also at the Beach Residences, ALSKD Management LLC, a Florida limited-liability company with a Sarasota address, sold Unit 1005 to David Smith for $1.7 million. Built in 2005, the 3,302-square-foot unit has two bedrooms and three bathrooms. It last sold for $2.45 million in December 2005.

L’Elegance on Lido Key
Jeffrey and Laura Deane, 2052 Benjamin Franklin Drive, sold Unit A-804 at L’Elegance on Lido Beach, to Andrew Kotsatos and his wife, Heather Parsons, of Arlington, Mass., for $1,235,000. Built in 1996, the 2,230-square-foot unit has three bedrooms and three bathrooms. It last sold for $1.6 million in June 2005.

Lido Regency
Marcel Temmerman sold Unit 11-A at Lido Regency, 1700 Benjamin Franklin Drive, to Stephen and Kathleen McKenna, of Morristown, N.J., for $440,000. Built in 1968, the 1,492-square-foot unit has two bedrooms and two bathrooms. It last sold for $350,000 in March 2002.

St. Armands
Former New York Giants and Indianapolis Colts defensive end Chad Bratzke and his wife, Kristi, sold their home at 237 S. Washington Drive in the St. Armands Division of the John Ringling Estates to Edward and Charis Rosenblum for $2.8 million. Built in 2001, the 6,172-square-foot home has four bedrooms, five bathrooms, two half-baths and a swimming pool. It last sold for $3.25 million in August 2001.

Bird Key
Kim and Pamela Walker sold the home at 319 W. Royal Flamingo Drive to Theodore Parker for $1.85 million. Built in 2003, the 3,745-square-foot home has three bedrooms, three-and-a-half bathrooms and a swimming pool. It last sold for $2.05 million in December 2003.

Anne Patterson, of Prairie Village, Kan., sold the home at 434 Meadow Lark Drive to Richard and Charlotte Berman, of Minnetonka, Minn., for $950,000. Built in 1978, the 3,377-square-foot home has four bedrooms, four bathrooms and a swimming pool. It last sold for $525,000 in September 1994.

Louis Dorff, 623 N. Owl Drive, sold the home at 315 Bob White Way to Wendy Macdonald for $495,000. Built in 1972, the 2,757-square-foot home has four bedrooms, two bathrooms and a swimming pool. It last sold for $930,000 in September 2005.
