Say what?
7:30 p.m. — 5300 block of Ocean Boulevard. Theft. An elderly man forgot his hearing aids by the swimming pool. When he realized he no longer had them, he went back to the pool, but the hearing aids were gone.

Rude guest
9 p.m. — 5100 Kestral Park Place. Grand Theft. A couple was holding a First Communion party for their daughter at their home. During the party, the mother noticed a guest’s purse sitting on her bedside table. The father later saw the guest by herself in the bedroom. The next morning, the mother discovered that 36 pieces of jewelry, worth $10,000, were missing from her jewelry box. She called the guest, who denied taking the jewelry. The mother tried to call her again the next day, but the number had been disconnected. Sheriff’s detectives are now on the case.

No refunds
4:34 p.m. — 1 block of Marina Plaza. Miscellaneous. Complainant reported seeing a boat sinking in the mooring field. No one was found aboard the boat. Its registration showed the words “Status: Sold.” Hope the buyer kept the receipt.

A little pick-me-up
5:43 a.m. — 1 block of Bayfront Drive. Littering. A city worker called police about repeated littering at Bayfront Park. He told officers that a man continually sleeps in his car overnight in the parking lot. The worker figures that  the man is to blame for the trash, because there are always soda cans and candy-bar wrappers on the ground where the man was parked. The worker asked that the man be given a trespassing warning.

Heart of the matter
7:01 a.m. — 900 block of South Brink Avenue. Harassing Phone Calls. A man received about 30 phone messages from his ex-girlfriend during the past few days. An officer listened to several of the messages and wrote in his report that he “heard mostly a crying female telling (him) that she loved him.” In addition to the messages, about 20 plants had been pulled out of the ground in the man’s front yard. He believed his ex did that as well. The man asked the officer if a trespassing warning that was issued against the woman about a year ago was still in effect.

Long in the tooth
10:56 a.m. — 2400 block of Paulstan Court. General Suspicion. Police received an anonymous complaint of a baby crying for about two hours. An officer went to the house in question, and the father said the baby was simply teething and was uncomfortable. The officer looked the baby over, and nothing appeared to be out of the ordinary.

Dust in the wind
11:51 a.m. — 100 block of Garfield Drive. Dispute. A man was yelling to police about a neighbor blowing dirt on his house.

Losing his patients
1:20 p.m. — 1500 block of South East Avenue. Trespassing. A nurse in a rehabilitation center reported that a man, who was visiting a patient, threatened him. The man told an officer that he was merely sticking up for the patient. Well, the officer stuck up for the nurse and told the man he was trespassing and not to return.

2:30 p.m. — 2700 block of Hillview Street. Criminal Mischief. A man said his car was hit with a bottle, while he was driving down the street. He told police that someone may have thought he was driving too fast and threw the bottle that hit his trunk. An officer couldn’t be sure if the dents in the trunk were new or old.
