Lock and key
11:36 p.m. — 700 block of Broadway. Security Check. Police contacted the key holder of an unlocked restaurant.

Oct. 21
This will blow over
3:17 p.m. — 600 block of Emerald Harbor Drive. Disturbance. A landscape worker said that a resident made a hand gesture when he attempted to have a discussion. The resident said that the worker mows his neighbor’s yard and frequently blows leaves and debris into his yard.

Repossession
4:15 p.m. — 1100 block of Bogey Lane. Vehicle Repossessed. A man called police to advise that he was repossessing a 2010 black Cadillac after its owner told him she was calling the police.

Oct. 22
Coon hound
2:37 a.m. — Intersection of Broadway and Poinsettia Avenue. Animal Nuisance. A resident complained that he could hear a barking dog from blocks away. Police found the dog and its owner, who said that the dog likely spotted a raccoon in a tree.

Off the chain
8:58 a.m. — 5500 block of GMD. Code Enforcement. Police told a man who was playing Frisbee with his dog that town code requires dogs to be leashed.

Bicycle bandit
12:58 p.m. — 3700 block of GMD. Lost Property. A man reported that his bicycle was missing from the area next to his outdoor grill where he normally stores it.

Sending a message
5 p.m. — 4000 block of GMD. Suspicious Circumstance. A woman reported that a stranger was texting her. Upon reviewing text messages, police found that the woman was texting back and had verified her first and last names with the other texter. When police told her that she should have reported the incident and avoided communicating with a stranger, the woman became upset and said that she no longer wanted to file a report.

Shell shocker
6:22 p.m. — 600 block of Fox St. Vandalism. A man reported that an unknown vehicle drove over his shell-covered yard.

Oct. 23
Flat tire
12:38 a.m. — 6000 block of GMD. Traffic. Police observed a 1994 Lexus with a flat tire and a note on its windshield that stated that the vehicle would be removed in the morning. The car remained there until the day shift had it towed because of the Longboat Key Triathlon.

Making headlines
6:16 a.m. — 3000 block of Grand Bay Boulevard. Domestic Disturbance. A woman called police after she and her boyfriend decided to walk home after a “silly argument” that occurred while they were delivering papers. The couple apologized for calling police.

Property damage
8:23 a.m. — 300 block of GMD. Vandalism. A security guard reported that an unknown person damaged lights on the property.

Crabby connection
11:49 a.m. — 5400 block of GMD. Property Found. Police told a woman who found small animal bones on the beach that such parts are used in crab traps.

Oct. 24
A place in the sun
5:36 p.m. — 500 block of Sanctuary Drive. Trespassing. Two men parked at a nearby gas station and walked through a condominium property to access the beach because they didn’t know where public beach accesses were located. Police gave them a warning and directions.

Oct. 25
Hit me with your best shot
3:10 p.m. — 600 block of Cedars Court. Battery. Two brothers got in a fight with their uncle after accepting his dare to steal a steal a shot from an outdoor bar. The shot-stealer said that his uncle punched him, and he then pushed his uncle to the ground. The man said that his uncle bit his right thumb. A witness told police that both brothers instigated the incident. Police arrested both men for domestic violence and handcuffed one man to a gurney while he was transported to a hospital for treatment. Police also completed a probable-cause affidavit charging their uncle, who was also transported to a hospital, with domestic violence. The men had been drinking all afternoon.
