Lady Mustangs continue historic season

The Lakewood Ranch High volleyball team won its first-ever regional tournament match, defeating Tampa King 3-0 in a Class 6A-Region 3 quarterfinal Nov. 2.

The Lady Mustangs defeated the Lions 26-24, 25-20, 25-22.

Mariah Robertson finished with 11 kills and three aces and Ashlyn Falahee had seven kills, two blocks, four digs and an ace to lead the way for Lakewood. Quillan Toler finished with seven kills, one block and one ace and Shelby Walker added four kills and five blocks. Ali Milbourn finished with 22 assists.

With the win, Lakewood played host to Seminole Osceola in a regional semifinal Nov. 8. The Lady Mustangs defeated the Lady Warriors 3-1 to win their first district title. Results from Lakewood’s regional semifinal match were unavailable as of press time Tuesday.
