Many East County residents were among the nearly 300 worshippers enjoying Temple Emanu-El’s Simchat Torah celebration Oct. 21.

The holiday, which commemorates the end of the annual cycle of readings from the Torah, was marked by the unrolling of an entire 100-year-old Torah scroll.

Rabbi Brenner J. Glickman then read and translated from the end of the book of Deuteronomy. Director of Education and East County resident Sabrina Silverberg read and translated the opening passages of Genesis.
