After an emotional win two weeks ago, the Braden River High football team was unable to relive some of that magic as the host Pirates fell to Venice 49-7 in the Class 7A-District 10 finale for both teams.

With the win, Venice finishes the season as the district runner-up, clinching a spot in the playoffs and eliminating Braden River from the postseason.

Venice took a 21-0 lead in the first quarter and the Pirates were never able to recover, as the Indians extended their lead to 42-0 at halftime.

Senior quarterback Steven Ross scored Braden River’s lone touchdown of the night on a 14-yard carry with 10:47 remaining in the game.

Braden River will close out its season at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 11, when it travels to Palmetto Ridge in Naples.
