Nov. 4
Probationary plan
8:14 a.m. — 200 block of Sands Point Road. Emergency Message/Welfare Check. A hotel security worker reported that a man vomited in the hotel lobby, had vomit on his clothes and shoes and was interfering with other guests. The man would not allow police into his room but told them through a partially open door that he did not need assistance and would be gone by the 11 a.m. checkout time. He also said that he had missed an appointment with his probation officer but planned to call and straighten out the matter.

The dish on the disturbance
10:29 a.m. — 6800 block of GMD. Disturbance. Police responded to a disturbance between restaurant employees and a dishwashing machine company that was removing equipment from the restaurant because of a contractual dispute. The restaurant owner agreed to let the company’s employees remove the equipment and resolve the dispute at a later time.

Nov. 5
Blown fuse
3:20 a.m. — 5600 block of GMD. Fire. Police found a blown fuse on a pole and notified Florida Power & Light.

Tool tiff
12:09 p.m. — 500 block of Harbourside Drive. Disturbance. An argument ensued after an electrical worker who needed to retrieve his tools was not allowed to drive through a gate by a security guard, who cited the community’s policy that prohibits commercial vehicles after noon on Saturdays. After the argument, the worker drove his van through the gate by following a resident inside. The worker later returned to apologize to the guard.

A lot on the line
3:54 p.m. — 600 block of Dream Island Road. Suspicious Circumstance. A charter-boat captain reported that someone untied all of his dock lines and threw them into the water, which could have caused damage because the lines are used to stop his vessel. The man said that his only suspect is an individual who has filed multiple complaints against him.

It came out of nowhere
4:08 p.m. — 3400 block of GMD. Property Damage. A man reported that a woman struck an object in a parking lot, causing her car’s bumper to fall off. The woman drove away with the bumper hanging off. The driver approached police after they found her vehicle parked at a condominium and said that she failed to negotiate the vehicle around a pole properly and was in the process of calling police and her car-rental company.

Nov. 6
Hide and seek
12:48 a.m. — Intersection of GMD and Neptune Avenue. Suspicious Circumstance. Police were unable to find the owner of a car parked at a beach access after hours but later found the owner and a woman attempting to hide. Police told the couple that the beach was closed after 11 p.m.

Watered down
11:12 a.m. — 500 block of Halyard Lane. Code Enforcement. A woman reported a possible water leak at her neighbor’s home. There was no leak, but the sprinkler was on in violation of a Sarasota County water ordinance. Police turned off the water.

Constructive criticism
1:17 p.m. — 500 block of Chipping Lane. Code Enforcement. Two men who were installing brick pavers agreed to leave the area after police advised them of an ordinance that prohibits construction work on Sundays. Police also confiscated one man’s suspended driver’s license.

Nov. 9
Separation anxiety
7:46 a.m. — 6900 block of Poinsetta Ave. Dog Nuisance. A woman reported that her neighbor’s dogs bark continuously when the neighbor is gone. The woman said that she and other residents had filed multiple complaints against the neighbor over the years. Police were unable to find the dogs’ owner but agreed to document the incident.

No charge
8:24 p.m. — 6000 block of GMD. Public Service. While conducting a business check, police found that a boat radio was playing and turned the batteries off.
