The Sarasota Ministerial Association held its 11th annual celebration with Sarasota’s homeless residents as its guests Wednesday, Nov. 23, at First Baptist Church.

The program, which included a play by Kathryn Chesley, was titled “Thanksgiving with Lucy Ricardo and Friends.” The cast listed included government representatives, faith leaders and community members such as Sarasota County Commissioners Joe Barbetta, John Thaxton and Carolyn Mason, Sarasota School Board Commissioner Caroline Zucker and Sarasota City Commissioner Paul Caragiulo. Twenty-seven members of the Sarasota High School girl’s basketball team volunteered their time as servers.

The luncheon served approximately 370 people and raised more than $4,800 for Salvation Army Thanksgiving Day Meals for the homeless. The remainder will benefit Salvation Army’s partnership, The Goodwill Faith Care Connection for the at-risk families near homelessness.
