Nine-year-old pitcher Connor Krug threw his first complete game no-hitter Nov. 20, leading the Meteors 9U travel baseball team to an 8-0 victory over the Tampa Spartans in the championship game of the Gulf Coast Championship Tournament. Here is an inside look at this week’s Athlete of the Week.

What was your reaction when you threw your no-hitter?
I didn’t know it until the next day. My coach looked at the scorebook and (realized) nobody got a hit.

How did you get into baseball?
I started when I was about 3 years old. My mom just taught us.

What do you enjoy the most about baseball?
Hitting. It’s just fun, and you get to hit it over the fence.

Do you have a favorite baseball player?
Ted Williams. He plays for my favorite team, the Boston Red Sox, and he had the highest batting average at .407.

Do you play any other sports?
I play basketball, tennis and some football.

Of the sports that you play, which is your favorite?
Basketball. It’s fun to watch on TV; and my grandpa (Dick Vitale) used to coach the (Detroit) Pistons and now he works for ESPN.

Do you have any brothers or sisters?
I have a twin brother, Jake, and a younger sister, Ava, who is 6 years old.

If you could go anywhere on vacation, where would it be and why?
Hawaii. So I can see the volcano.

Do you have a favorite subject?
Math. It’s challenging.

What’s your favorite Christmas carol?
“Frosty the Snowman.”

If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
To see the future and the past. I want to see what I’ll be when I grow up and look back on when I was younger.

What was your favorite TV show when you were little?
“ABC 7 News.” I watched whatever my mom watched.

Do you have any pets?
I have a 3-year-old golden retriever named Domer after the Golden Dome at Notre Dame.
